The Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM) fully recognizes the socioeconomic, political, and geographical impacts that COVID-19 is having on communities around the world. As cities and local governments develop sustainable recovery plans, GCoM seeks to clarify its reporting principles for cities committed to the alliance in 2020.

GCoM USA at the National Conference of Regions

Elected officials and executives from the 4 GCoM USA ‘Metro-scale Climate Leaders’ joined staff from the Global Covenant of Mayors Secretariat and the European Union at the National Conference of Regions, hosted by the National Association of Regional Councils. The session explored the critical role that metropolitan and regional organisations can have in fostering resilience through case studies from the US and European Union (EU)

International Conference of Sustainable Infrastructure

Facilitated an “action track” with participating engineers, city and finance experts during the American Society of Civil Engineer’s Future World Vision Leadership Summit ahead of the International Conference of Sustainable Infrastructure (ICSI) with a goal to identify the biggest barriers to sustainable and resilient urban infrastructure and develop clear, actionable plans to bridge these gaps.

Climate Emergency: Unlocking the Urban Opportunity Together

At the 25th Conference of the Parties (COP25) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM) and its alliance of partners today released Climate Emergency: Unlocking the Urban Opportunity Together, a report showcasing the collective impact of commitments across its 10,239 cities and local governments to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
