This program is administered by the Department of Transportation. The Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development, or BUILD Transportation Discretionary Grant program, previously known as Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery, or TIGER Discretionary Grants, provides funding to build and repair critical pieces of freight and passenger transportation networks. The eligibility requirements of BUILD allow project sponsors at the State and local levels to obtain funding for multi-modal, multi-jurisdictional projects that are more difficult to support through traditional DOT programs. Minimum award is $5 million, maximum award is $25 million. Applications are due in May 2020. The City-County of Miami-Dade was a recent program winner.
